More About the Brownhelm Quarries The first quarry in Lorain County was opened in 1847 by Henry Warner in Brownhelm Township. In 1853 the quarry was purchased by John Worthington. From this quarry it is believed that the first stone was shipped to a client in Canada. The Brownhelm Quarry would later become one of the many quarries owned and operated by the Cleveland Stone Company and was referred to as the No. 10 Quarry. |
